Starting inventory: enter what's already on the shelves. No cost is needed - these items count toward what you have and how fast you use it, but never toward prices, averages or spending. The location stays selected after each save so you can work shelf by shelf.

BJ's receipts

  1. Make the bookmark (once, on each computer): show Chrome's bookmarks bar (Ctrl+Shift+B), then drag this green button onto it: Send to BJ's Companion
    Can't drag it? → right-click the bookmarks bar → Add page… → Name: Send to BJ's Companion, URL: paste (Ctrl+V) → Save.
  2. On bjs.com: Account → Manage Orders → open an in-club order.
  3. Click the Send to BJ's Companion bookmark. It reads the receipt and opens Review receipt here.

Your BJ's login stays in your browser - nothing is stored here. If the bookmark is blocked, allow pop-ups for bjs.com.

Security · recovery code

Everything in BJ's Companion is stored encrypted on this PC: groceries, receipts, the Sugar Log, every daily backup and the Kroger sign-ins. The key is locked to this Windows account. If Windows is reinstalled, the app moves to another PC, or the Windows password is reset, the recovery code is the only way to open the data again.

  1. Click Show recovery code (works only on the home Wi-Fi).
  2. Save it in a password manager, or write it down and keep it somewhere safe. Don't email it or keep it on this PC.
  3. To use it: close the server window, double-click Unlock with recovery code.bat in F:\BJsCompanion and paste the code.

Price check

  1. On developer.kroger.com, sign in and open your app (or create one).
  2. Copy its Client ID and Client Secret into the boxes below, then click Save. The key is checked with Kroger before it's saved.
  3. Click Test to see the Kroger stores it finds near home.
  4. In your Kroger app, the Redirect URI must be exactly:

Test mode

A separate demo kitchen for showing the family how it works - recipe, cooking with the Pull list, and an automatic egg reorder. Only on your sign-in; everyone else keeps the real Kitchen. Nothing you do in test mode touches the real data.
